Mother found living in ‘disgusting’ hotel room with child faces child neglect, animal abuse charges in Brevard County
A woman is accused of keeping her 6-year-old son in a filthy hotel room with multiple pets, at least three of which were malnourished and emaciated, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A former case worker says Brevard Family Partnership, their board, DCF and agencies associated with them says they failed a 4-year-old Joy King Castro and the failure led to her death on Aug. 25. Kirsten Larson was with Brevard Cares, an agency associated with Brevard Family Partnership which manages and places children in foster care, and was the case manager for Castro. Titusville police said Castro was badly beaten while in the care of her foster mother, 41-year-old Lakeisha Mitchell. Larson, the case worker, doesn’t hold back in the letter when addressing where the problems started.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in Marion County quickly identified a young boy who was found riding his bicycle on the side of Interstate 75. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was along the side of I-75 southbound from Highway 484 when he was found. He told deputies his name is John but was unable to provide any more information about his identity. “Please help us find his family,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. Less than an hour after the post went up, the sheriff’s office said the boy had been identified.
