The historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark, opened in 1914 and recognized as the oldest ballpark still used in Minor League Baseball, is undergoing a comprehensive $30 million renovation and expansion project that will transform the beloved landmark into a premier baseball facility meeting MLB standards.

City leaders with Daytona Beach along with the Daytona Tortugas are set to celebrate the start of renovations of the historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The Daytona Tortugas, the city’s Minor League Baseball team, handed out bobbleheads of Volusia County Sheriff Mile Chitwood at Saturday’s game.

The Daytona Tortugas baseball team will raise money for Officer Jason Raynor during a homestand this week.

Starting next week, the Daytona Tortugas will be able to have stands filled with fans.

As Major League Baseball had Opening Day around the country on Thursday, the Daytona Tortugas minor league team prepared for its season that starts in May.
