New Queen Latifah drama gets post-Super Bowl debut showcase
LOS ANGELES – Queen Latifah's upcoming drama series has scored a touchdown. CBS says “The Equalizer” will get the coveted post-Super Bowl slot next February to showcase its debut. A special edition of Stephen Colbert's daily “The Late Show” will follow late local news on Super Bowl night, the network also announced. The returning series “FBI” also is getting special treatment, with its season debut following the NFL's AFC championship game on Sunday, Jan. 24. The other daily CBS late-night program, James Corden's “The Late Late Show,” will air a weekend edition on the night of the conference championship and after local newscasts.

Golden Globes group gives $5.1 million in grants
Kidman was among the entertainers who appeared to discuss the charities that benefit from HFPA grants. More than $5.1 million in funds were given to over 70 nonprofit organizations during the “HFPA Philanthropy: Empowering the Next Generation” virtual event on Tuesday. The event, formerly known as the Grants Banquet, celebrated some of the organizations with aspiring artists, filmmakers and storytellers. The organization is known for putting on the Golden Globes. Salma Hayek paid homage to the Las Fotos Project, a nonprofit organization that inspires teenage girls through photography.
Pandemic parody of `Goodnight Moon' to be released in fall
NEW YORK A popular online spoof of the children's favorite Goodnight Moon, reworked for the coronavirus, will be published by Penguin Random House this fall. The Penguin imprint Philomel Books announced Monday that Good Morning Zoom, written by Lindsay Rechler and illustrated by June Park, is scheduled for Oct. 6. Currently self-published, Good Morning Zoom takes Margaret Wise Brown's beloved bedtime story and turns it into a narrative about Zoom, bread baking, home schooling and other familiar parts of life during the pandemic. Rechler is a banking executive and mother of two who lives in Manhattan. I thought a lot about the contrast between quarantining safely inside versus what was happening outside my window."

(CNN) - Bill Maher has a long history of drawing ire for his remarks made on and off his HBO show, "Real Time." And now he's being called out by fellow late-night host James Corden. "Fat-shaming doesn't need to end; it needs to make a comeback," Maher said on last Friday's "Real Time," adding that "some amount of shame is good." Corden, who spoke of his own body image and health, used scientific reports to back up his arguments that mocking other people's bodies can actually lead to more harm. "There's a common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy and we're not," Corden said.

It is based on an original concept from Jack Viertel and a book by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin. According to the report, Streep and Corden will play Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman, playwrights bruising from their dud production about Eleanor Roosevelt.
