Florida First Lady efforting curriculum for mental health, partnering professional athletes
ORLANDO, Fla. โ Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis unveiled a new program for students Friday that will use curriculum in the classroom, volunteering in the community and the influence of professional athletes to help young people improve their mental health. โOne of the biggest barriers, hands down, that we both saw was the stigma,โ Casey DeSantis said. โThis curriculum will focus on key fundamentals of teaching kids how to be resilient,โ Casey DeSantis said. โFor example, problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, the value of mentorship, empathy, respect, responsibility.โAdThe resiliency curriculum will also include volunteerism. Simon, a former Florida State University footballer and Philadelphia Eagles player, described the stigma and struggles professional athletes face even when they appear to be on top of the world.

ORLANDO, Fla. โ Long-time Orlando resident and legendary football coach Lou Holtz will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom Thursday. President Donald Trump is expected to award Holtz the nationโs highest civilian honor during a ceremony at the White House. Holtz ended his career at the University of South Carolina, where he was head coach for six seasons from 1999-2004. In a statement released by the White House, Holtz was praised not only for his coaching career but his charity work off the field. Holtz is a long-time resident of the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club.

Notre Dame extends coach Brian Kelly's contract through 2024
Notre Dame and coach Brian Kelly have agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2024 season. Kelly is entering his 11th season as Notre Dame coach, and 30th season as a head coach in college football. โWe are pleased to be able to have Brian lead our football program for the foreseeable future,โ Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement. Kelly is approaching Lou Holtzโs Notre Dame record for most games coached in program history. He has already matched Holtz with five double-digit victory seasons at Notre Dame.

Holtz ended his career at the University of South Carolina, where he was head coach for six seasons from 1999-2004. Holtz was among those who spoke at last weeks Republican National Convention. In his remarks, Holtz called Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden a Catholic in name only. Biden is a practicing Catholic.
