It's time for the Packers to sit Aaron Rodgers and find out if Jordan Love is the future
Late in Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, when the Green Bay Packers appeared to have few positives to take away from an embarrassing curb-stomping, a moment of intrigue came from the most unexpected of places. That's what Love can still represent: an illuminated path forward that doesn't count on Rodgers holding the light. If Green Bay already has that player on its roster, it could be transformative. You can’t do that with Love if Rodgers is hanging on for dear life hoping to reach a 9-8 record. This is the moment when Green Bay needs to make a little withdrawal from Rodgers' playing bank and slide it over to Love.

Many of her dreams came true, but ended abruptly and violently when she was brutally beaten by her boyfriend, a lawyer for Love's family told a jury Tuesday in the civil trial of the man convicted in her killing. George Huguely V was convicted of second-degree murder and is serving a 23-year prison sentence in Love's slaying.

Jury selection is expected in Charlottesville Circuit Court on Monday in a trial that will seek to hold George Huguely liable in the death of Love. The lawsuit seeks $29.5 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages. Love and Huguely were both seniors who were weeks away from graduating. They were known for their play on UVA’s nationally ranked men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, but they were also known for their volatile relationship. The civil trial is expected to include many of the same witnesses, although many of them are expected to testify in videotaped depositions instead of in person.

The 32-year-old’s injury is a setback for the Cavs, who are off to their first 3-0 start since 2016. Martin was convicted of felony battery in a 2016 altercation involving his girlfriend.Martin appealed his conviction, and the appeal was pending when the Legislature and Scott shifted the burden of proof in stand your ground cases.
