OCEARCH lists the shark as “Penny” — a great white shark that was first tagged back in April 2023 off the coast of North Carolina.

These behemoths can be tracked using OCEARCH’s shark tracker, which catalogs the movement of these sharks as they travel through the water.

Ocearch, a nonprofit organization are responsible for tagging and tracking sharks all over the world, says six of its tagged great white sharks are currently off the coast of Florida. Three of the six were tracked in one similar location off the coast of Jacksonville, where water temperatures are 65 to 67 degrees.
