Witness tracks down driver after fatal Orange County crash, FHP says

Jennifer Garringer dies in crash near convention center

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 31-year-old Michigan woman was killed late Sunday in a crash near the Orange County Convention Center, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jennifer Garringer, of Walled Lake, Michigan, died in the crash, which was reported on Universal Boulevard at Convention Circle.

The FHP said Yashpaul Boodram, 25, of Orlando, was driving a 2012 Lexus on Universal Boulevard when he struck Garringer, who was walking in a marked crosswalk.

Garringer was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital, where she died, according to the FHP.

Boodram drove off, but a witness followed him and brought him back to the scene, troopers said.

Boodram was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death. More charges are pending, the FHP said.

Neither Boodram nor his passenger, a 26-year-old Orlando woman, were injured.
