The FHP said Yashpaul Boodram, 25, of Orlando, was driving a 2012 Lexus on Universal Boulevard when he struck Garringer, who was walking in a marked crosswalk.

Garringer was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital, where she died, according to the FHP.

Boodram drove off, but a witness followed him and brought him back to the scene, troopers said.

Boodram was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death. More charges are pending, the FHP said.

Neither Boodram nor his passenger, a 26-year-old Orlando woman, were injured.
