Truck driver ID'd in fatal crash near Disney World

3 trucks involved in crash on SR 417 ramp to I-4

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 41-year-old Haines City man was killed Wednesday morning in a crash that snarled traffic near Disney World, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The FHP said John Gale died in the wreck, which was reported at 6:15 a.m. on the exit ramp from State Road 417 to I-4 west.

Troopers said traffic was congested in the area due to another crash, but Gale failed to slow down and rear-ended another box truck, which crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.

Gale, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

No other injuries were reported.

The S.R. 417 ramp to westbound I-4 was blocked and drivers were diverted onto World Drive.

Traffic was backed up on I-4 west, S.R. 417 and World Drive.

A family member of Gale said he was a good man. If you would like to donate to help with his funeral expenses, you can do so via the family's GoFundMe page.
