Troopers try to ID scooter driver killed in Orange County crash

Fatal wreck happened on OBT at Americana Boulevard

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man riding an electric scooter was struck and killed Monday night in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers have been unable to identify the man who died in the wreck, which was reported at 8:50 p.m. on Orange Blossom Trail at Americana Boulevard.

According to the FHP, a 43-year-old man was driving a Honda Accord north on OBT and struck the scooter, which had traveled into his direct path. The driver of the Accord had a green light, troopers said.

The man on the scooter was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died, the FHP said.

The driver of the Accord was not injured.
