Victims taken to hospitals after wreck on Chickasaw Trail

Four people were struck by a vehicle in Orange County.

ORLANDO, Fla. – One man was struck and killed and another was injured Monday morning after getting out of a pickup truck on an Orange County road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported on Chickasaw Trail at Scarborough Court near Liberty Middle School in Orlando.

The FHP said the pickup was pulling a trailer on northbound Chickasaw Trail when the driver stopped in a portion of the travel lane. Two men got out of the pickup to check on an issue with the trailer when a Nissan Altima hit the back of the trailer, which struck the men, the FHP said.

The victims were taken to a hospital, where one of them, a 29-year-old Orlando man died, troopers said. The other man suffered critical injuries, an FHP report said.

The driver of the Nissan suffered serious injuries, the FHP said. It’s not known if he faces charges.

Authorities initially reported that four people were struck by the car.
