BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – One person was seriously injured in a Brevard County crash on Saturday evening, according to the Florida highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 6:43 p.m. near the intersection of US-1 and Shell Pit Road in Grant.

According to the FHP, a Mitsubishi Galant was traveling eastbound on Shell Pit Road approaching US-1.

At the same time, a GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling southbound on US-1, approaching Shell Pit Road in the inside lane.

Troopers said the driver of the Galant made a left turn from Shell Pit Road to travel northbound on US-1 and failed to travel in the correct travel lane, driving northbound in the southbound lane.

As a result, the front of the Galant crashed into the front of the Sierra pickup truck.

One occupant was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert, but troopers did not specify which vehicle the patient was from.

The crash remains under investigation.
