The change is part of the project to expand express lanes in the area.

Single- and double-lane closures are scheduled to occur nightly on westbound I-4 from Daryl Carter Parkway to S.R. 536 beginning as early as 11:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, and are expected to reopen by 6:30 a.m. the following morning. These closures will occur nightly through Thursday, April 4, and are necessary to shift traffic to the outside shoulder.

Beginning as early as 11:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, traffic on westbound I-4 will be shifted over one lane to the outside, as the inside shoulder will be closed for road work. The traffic shift is anticipated to be in place until spring 2025 and will provide space for crews to construct the westbound I-4 Express extension.

The Florida Department of Transportation said the traffic shift will be in place until spring 2025.
