Can RVs use I-4 express lanes in Orlando? Yes, but there’s a catch

Trooper Steve answers viewer questions

ORLANDO, Fla.News 6 traffic safety expert Trooper Steve Montiero answers viewer questions about the rules of the road every week, helping Central Florida residents become better drivers by being better educated.

Trooper Steve was asked, “Traveling with my RV through Orlando, can I use the express lanes?”

“As long as that RV is only a two-axle vehicle and has no trailer attached to it, then the RV would be allowed in the express lanes,” he said.

The express lanes located in Central Florida are limited to two-axle vehicles only and buses. Any other vehicle with three or more axles or pulling a trailer would not be allowed in the express lanes.

Obviously, emergency response vehicles are exempt from this.

“If a vehicle violates these traffic rules they would be subject to severely increased toll fines, or even a traffic citation if pulled over by a law enforcement officer,” Trooper Steve said.
