Bicyclist struck, killed in Osceola County, troopers say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 59-year-old bicyclist that was struck by a vehicle on Sunday in Osceola County later died from his injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to a crash report, deadly crash happened on Florence Villa Grove Road near Westside Boulevard around 8:51 a.m.

Troopers said a Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by a 24-year-old South Carolina man, and the bicyclist was traveling east on Florence Villa Grove Road, approaching Westside Boulevard.

According to the report, the Malibu’s driver failed to maintain his lane and the front of the vehicle struck the back of the bicycle.

The bicyclist, identified as a West Palm Beach man, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Malibu and two passengers remained on the scene and were not injured troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
