OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – If you’ve ever turned on News 6 Mornings, chances are you’ve heard me grumble about the infamous I-4 at ChampionsGate.
Honestly, it’s been a regular character in my traffic reports and not the lovable kind.
For years, both eastbound and westbound lanes in that stretch have been packed tighter than a theme park parking lot on a holiday weekend. It didn’t matter if it was morning, afternoon, or evening; it was a recipe for frustration.

But here’s some hopeful news: recently, construction crews wrapped up work adding extra lanes in both directions. And while that sounds like music to the ears of daily commuters, the big question is, has it actually made a difference?
Well, over the past few days, we’ve started to notice something surprising: a real decrease in those dreaded backups. Yes, you read that right, fewer brake lights, fewer horns, and maybe (just maybe) fewer grumpy drivers starting their day on I-4.
Of course, this isn’t the end of the roadwork saga. There’s still plenty of construction planned for the area to help keep improving the flow. But for now, we might actually be seeing a little light at the end of the gridlock tunnel.
So here’s the plan — today, during our live stream, I’m heading out there myself to check it out in real time. Come along for the ride, and let’s see together if ChampionsGate is finally getting the traffic break we’ve all been waiting for.
Trust me — this is one traffic story you’ll want to watch! Watch at the top of this story.
