CHRISTMAS, Fla. – A driver was injured Tuesday morning when a pickup truck crashed into the back of a parked dump truck on the side of a major roadway in east Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The wreck happened around 7:15 a.m. on State Road 528 east, not far from State Road 520 near Christmas.

The FHP said a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling east on S.R. 528 and veered onto the outside shoulder for an unknown reason, crashing into the left rear of a 1997 Mack truck.

The pickup truck then ran off the road and overturned, the FHP said.

The pickup driver was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The dump truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

It’s not known why the dump truck was parked on the side of the road.

Traffic was delayed on eastbound S.R. 528 in the area after the crash.
