Florida man dies when motorcycle crashes into back of big rig on CR-476B in Sumter

Victim ID’d as 22-year-old Dade City man

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Florida man was killed Monday when his motorcycle crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer in Sumter County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 5:05 p.m. on County Road 476B near County Road 631.

The FHP said a Dade City man was riding a Harley-Davidson at a high rate of speed on CR-476B.

A tractor-trailer driven by a 67-year-old Bushnell man was traveling north on CR-476B and was stopped in traffic, waiting to turn onto CR-631, according to troopers.

The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of the semi, the FHP said.

The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene, according to the FHP.

No other details were released.
