SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A three-vehicle crash Saturday morning near Geneva killed a man and sent three other people to the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 9:13 a.m. at W State Road 46 and Osceola Road, troopers said, describing the three vehicles involved as an SUV, a sprinter van and a pickup truck.
According to an FHP crash report, the pickup truck was traveling behind the van, both of which were headed westbound on S.R. 46.
The pickup’s driver — identified as a 36-year-old Geneva woman — attempted to pass the van but swerved back toward the westbound lane upon seeing an oncoming SUV in the eastbound lane, the report states.
The front right of the truck hit the left rear of the van before the truck veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the SUV, according to the report. The truck then ran off the roadway and caught fire, troopers said.
Though the pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries, neither her nor the 46-year-old Sanford man who drove the van were hospitalized, the report states.
The 43-year-old DeBary man driving the SUV suffered minor injuries while two of his passengers — a 67-year-old Cincinnati woman and a 29-year-old DeBary woman — suffered serious injuries in the crash, all of whom were hospitalized, troopers said.
A third passenger from the SUV, identified as a 68-year-old Cincinnati man, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
