Driver arrested, 2 seriously injured in Orange County when car crashes into sign, tree

Crash happened near Apopka on Wekiwa Springs Road

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Three people were injured early Thursday when their vehicle crashed into a sign and a tree in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened before 3 a.m. on Wekiwa Springs Road near Park Village Lane.

According to troopers, a 2021 Audi Q3 was traveling west on Wekiwa Springs Road above the speed limit when the driver failed to follow a curve in the road and went off the roadway, hitting a sign and tree.

The driver, a 21-year-old Orlando woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Her two passengers, a 45-year-old Apopka woman and a 28-year-old Orlando man, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers said 21-year-old Juandi Soto Martinez was arrested for DUI refusal involving serious injuries and driving while license is suspended.

An investigation is ongoing.
