Apopka man killed in Lake County crash, troopers say

Crash occurred on State Road 429 near Mount Plymouth

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 65-year-old Apopka man driving a sedan in Lake County was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 7:49 p.m. as the man traveled northbound on State Road 429 around mile marker 44, near Mount Plymouth, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the sedan ran off the roadway for unknown reasons and entered the median, striking a overpass median pillar as a result. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states. Troopers believe he was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
