BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Southbound Interstate 95 was temporarily shut down Friday afternoon in Brevard County due to a situation at an overpass, according to the sheriff.

I-95 southbound and Viera Boulevard were shut down around 1:30 p.m. due to what Sheriff Wayne Ivey described as “a suicidal subject threatening to jump off of the overpass.”

Southbound traffic was diverted at Fiske Boulevard, the sheriff’s post states.

Traffic was seen to be moving again around 2 p.m., albeit slowly.

No other details had been shared or confirmed at the time of this report.
