MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 5-year-old boy was killed and 13 others critically injured after a motorhome overturned during a two-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened on U.S. 27 and C.R. 316 around 5:45 a.m.
According to a crash report, the motorhome was traveling north on U.S. 27 while an SUV was traveling west on C.R. 316.
Troopers said the two vehicles collided which then caused the motorhome to overturn.
The driver of the SUV, identified as a 25-year-old woman from Old Town, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
A 5-year-old boy in the motorhome was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP. In addition, 12 occupants in the motorhome were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
