ORLANDO, Fla. – Summerlike heat is taking over Central Florida, with widespread record-breaking temperatures by Thursday.
WEDNESDAY
The first 90-degree day of this hot stretch arrives Wednesday afternoon with highs soaring into the low to mid-90s inland and upper 80s along the coast.
Leesburg will have the best chance of breaking its record of 93 set back in 2007. Expect plenty of sunshine with conditions staying mostly dry.
THURSDAY
The heat ramps up even more on Thursday with temperatures hitting the hottest temperatures since Aug. 14, 2025.
Winds turning out of the southwest will limit the ability for a cool sea breeze to develop, helping temperatures surge into dangerous levels in the low to mid 90s across all of Central Florida, including the coast.
Several locations could easily break daily record highs, including Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Leesburg, and Sanford.
The combination of hot, dry, and breezy conditions on Thursday will also increase fire danger. This is why a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Thursday, as any little spark could easily start and spread a fire.
FRIDAY-WEEKEND
By Friday, the pattern begins to shift as a weak front stalls just north of the area, gradually increasing moisture in the area.
Isolated to scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms return, with rain chances around 30 to 50 percent and expanding through the weekend.
Storms will remain hit or miss, but a few could be on the stronger side with frequent lightning, gusty winds up to 40 to 45 mph, and brief heavy downpours.
Even with the return of rain, the heat is not going anywhere as highs stay in the low 90s with heat index values approaching 100 degrees.
