ORLANDO, Fla. – Our summertime sea breeze pattern and very weak westerly steering flow spell a soggy Friday afternoon for parts of Central Florida.
Our Friday will start off on the muggy but dry side with a mix of sun and clouds for the morning commute. This sunshine will allow temperatures to climb into the low 90s around lunchtime. That is when spotty thunderstorms will begin to develop across Central Florida along our sea breeze. The difference with Friday is a weaker, more southeast wind.
This means the sea breeze will not push as far inland before developing those afternoon storms. Coverage will favor areas along and near the I-4 corridor. Our weak westerly steering flow means storms will remain nearly stationary in the afternoon.
A similar scene will play out for your weekend as our sea breeze pattern continues to be the dominant factor over Central Florida’s forecast. Expect to start off your Saturday and Sunday on the dry side with a mix of sun and clouds and humid conditions.
Scattered thunderstorms will begin to develop along our sea breeze between I-4 and I-75 just after lunchtime and linger across Central Florida until Sunset. Highs will be in the low-mid 90s with “feels like” temperatures hovering around 100ºF.
