ORLANDO, Fla. – If it seems like Fay has been around for a while you would be right.
Fay first formed on Sep. 20. The storm nearly became the first hurricane of the season meandering in the open waters of the Central Atlantic.
That was stint number one.
The storm became a remnant low Sep. 22nd
Fay then drifted into an atmosphere that favored development and regenerated the next day.
Fay weakened into a depression over the weekend, but Monday night strengthened back into a tropical storm with winds of 40 miles per hour.
Fay is the longest-lived storm of the 2026 season so far which isn’t saying much as the basin in the midst of an historically quiet season.
Still, there are a couple of weeks left of the climatologically most active period of the season.
Hurricane season runs ends Dec. 1.
