Osceola County’s emergency crews sheltering in place as Milton closes in

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Emergency vehicles are staging at Osceola County’s Heritage Park, waiting for when it’s safe to go out and begin any rescues caused by Hurricane Milton.

Law enforcement officers and fire crews have been told they can no longer go out and deal with emergencies, they must shelter in place because the wind gusts are too strong.

Trooper Steve Montiero says transformers are going off along U.S. 192 in Kissimmee. He got a look inside the arena that is normally the home to the Silver Spurs Rodeo, which has been modified for vehicles ranging from fire trucks to high-water rescue vehicles, to airboats to agriculture rescue vehicles.
