The position will concentrate on the assignment desk with exposure to digital writing, reporting and line producing. Job duties include, but are not limited to, responding quickly and efficiently to breaking news, setting up news stories, dispatching crews, helping plan daily and long term coverage, monitoring websites and social media sources, communicating the editorial and operational needs of the assignment desk to crews and reporters, answering phones, making beat calls, monitoring and advancing the developing stories. This position will also be responsible for posting stories, updating the station website and all social and digital platforms.
Requirements
• Ability to demonstrate basic journalistic judgment and skills including the ability to write news copy.
• The Trainee position is a temporary, full-time position lasting for a specific duration of no more than 12 months. There is no guarantee of employment beyond the training commitment.
• College degree preferred.
