What The Honk: You missed a (parking) spot

This week’s honks are dedicated to those who think they can park there.

What The Honk: Take the exit without taking me out, please

We talk about distracted driving all the time. Allow me to show you what it looks like at 70 miles an hour.

Plenty of interesting stuff to share with you after a week off.

What the Honk: You were so close

Doesn’t matter if I take a week off or just a few days, the honks are always in my inbox and ready to go.

What the Honk: Just get a truck already

Trooper Steve discerns the improper from the downright inconsiderate.

What the honk: Orange you glad you didn’t get stuck in this traffic mess?

ORLANDO, Fla. – So remember a few weeks ago when I complained I wasn’t getting enough honks in my email? Well, you all have answered the call and I’ve got some good honks this week. Well I can tell you they have plenty in Winter Garden. You can see the Winter Garden officer not overly excited about directing traffic at this crash. I know I harp on transporting things safely all the time in part because I also drive a small car and this is difficult for me also but this is the reason I complain so much.

What the honk: Tigers in traffic and another reminder, don’t stop on train tracks

It’s like having honorary troopers out and about looking for violations to send me, and oh, do I appreciate it. Don’t stop on the tracks, everWhy can’t we figure this out? I mean there are markings in the travel lane, signs that say “Don’t stop on the tracks” and then obvious tracks in the middle of the road. Do us all a favor and stop, stopping on the tracks. Out of all the violations in the world I bet none of you thought they would pull a U-turn, yes a U-turn.

What the Honk: Yes, that’s a mini horse in a motorcycle sidecar

We are seeing an increase in aggressive driving and that’s simply a fact. The Florida Highway Patrol said troopers are seeing an uptick in speeding and other dangerous behavior on our roads. But with open roads, troopers are writing way more speeding tickets in 2020 than they did during the same time last year. Yes, your eyes are not messing with you that’s a mini horse riding in a sidecar of this motorcycle and even better, there is a trailer with a full rock band drum set attached to it all. This sign over by the University of Central Florida reads " Eyes up, ears open, watch for traffic” obviously aimed at distracted walkers.

What the Honk: Parking in a loading zone and tinted windows in Florida

That doesnt mean I dont have anything to show you today. Now if you know me Im all about a clean looking Cadillac but that doesnt mean you do what you want it. This one decided to park in the loading and unloading zone of this disabled parking spot outside of a grocery store. I dont know why people do this. I want to share the things youre seeing.

What the Honk: Illegal parking, driving on the shoulder

Trooper Steve shares some of the crazy things on the road. If you need help with the Public File, call 407-291-6000.

What the Honk: Parking faux pas and driving on the shoulder

This white Cadillac won’t be the first and I’m sure won’t be the last that makes an appearance here but, what the honk? Even if this driver did have a disabled parking decal, this would still be a violation. Just because traffic is moving slowly doesn’t mean you’re allowed to turn the shoulder into a travel lane. I understand the use of them and the safety behind it, however these lights should not be on while you’re driving on the road. (News 6)I want to keep seeing the things you’re seeing, keep your passenger pictures or dash camera videos coming and send them to me over at clickorlando.com/whatthehonk or you can email them to me at asktroopersteve@wkmg.com.
