Culpeppers restaurant near UCF closes after 6 months

Restaurant space sold to Miami franchise

ORLANDO, Fla. – Culpeppers, a UCF-themed restaurant and bar located near the university, closed its doors on Sunday after six months of operation.

Former UCF and NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper was the namesake in the restaurant, which was run by Culpepper, former UCF quarterback, Kyle Israel and radio host Tony Comas.

According to Comas, the restaurant closed after their majority investor, T.J. Davenport Group, decided to sell the location to a Miami franchise. A restaurant will open in the same location with a new concept, Comas said.

Culpepper wants to remain in the area so there is a possibility another restaurant similar to the bar will open elsewhere, Comas said, but no plans have been set yet.
