Pilgrim's Pride recalls 4.5 million pounds of chicken

USDA inspectors found products were contaminated

ORLANDO, Fla. – Pilgrim's Pride is recalling 4.5 million pounds of chicken products.

The recall was issued after USDA inspectors found plastic, wood, rubber and metal in some of the chicken.

The products include whole-grain breaded nuggets, patties, breakfast patties, tenderloins and popcorn-style varieties.

The recalled products were sold nationwide under the Gold Kist Farms, Pierce and Sweet Georgia brands.

The chicken was sold between Aug. 21, 2014 and March 1, 2016.

Customers who bought the chicken are being asked to throw it away or return it to the store where it was bought.
