Another 10 Central Florida restaurants shut down over health concerns

Four eateries shut down in Orlando alone, records show

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last week, 10 more Central Florida restaurants were forced to shut down — at least for a while — following local health inspections, according to the Florida DBPR.

Health inspection records reveal that these restaurants suffered problems with rodents, cockroaches, time/temperature issues, and other types of violations.

Within Central Florida, Orlando garnered the bulk of the violations, with four restaurants reportedly being forced to close upon inspections.

Below are all of the 10 restaurants that were forced to close down between Sept. 8 and Sept. 14.


CLEARWATER

  • Egg Haven Cafe — 1185 N. Hercules Ave.
    • Closed on Sept. 11
      • Small, flying insect found on wall between prep table and warewashing area
      • Raw beef stored in same container as fully cooked deli meats in walk-in cooler
      • Over a dozen live roaches found inside, as well as four roach egg sacs
      • Time/temperature violations for butter packets, pancake batter, sausages and feta cheese
    • Reopened on Sept. 12

DAYTONA BEACH

  • China Master — 1700 W. International Speedway Blvd.
    • Closed on Sept. 11
      • Employee began working without washing hands first
      • Nearly 45 rodent droppings found inside
      • Rodent burrow or nesting material found on floor throughout storage room
      • Chew marks identified on bag of flour, bag of pasta, soy sauce jug handle, and cooking sherry jug handle
      • Time/temperature violations for fried chicken and other food items
    • Reopened on Sept. 12
  • IHOP — 427 N. Atlantic Ave.
    • Closed on Sept. 12
      • Dead rodent stuck to glue trap in upstairs storage area
      • One rodent dropping discovered upstairs in dry storage near A/C equipment
    • Reopened on Sept. 12

ORLANDO

  • Black & Gold Bar & Grill — 1724 N. Alafaya Trail
    • Closed on Sept. 11
      • Salsa and roasted red peppers had “mold-like growth”
      • Nearly 10 small, flying insects found inside
      • Raw shelled eggs stored over gravy in the reach-in cooler
      • Nearly 20 rodent droppings discovered on the floor under a sink
    • Reopened on Sept. 11
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill — 2850 S. Kirkman Road
    • Closed on Sept. 10
      • Dishwashing machine not sanitizing properly
      • Over a dozen small, flying insects found inside
      • Over 50 live ants found inside, along with a live “caterpillar-like insect” at a bar table
      • Live roach found on the wall in the warewashing area
      • Thirty small rodent droppings spotted in the dining room
    • Reopened on Sept. 11
  • Pang’s BBQ — 5132 W. Colonial Drive
    • Closed on Sept. 11
      • Over 90 flying insects spotted inside
      • Over 70 rodent droppings discovered inside
      • Time/temperature violations for pork and duck at the front service counter
    • Reopened on Sept. 15
  • Sabroso Sauce — 912 W. Church Street
    • Closed on Sept. 9
      • Operated with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license
      • Operated without potable running water (operator claimed the fresh water tank was stolen)

PALM COAST

  • Cypress Knoll Golf & Country Club — 53 Easthampton Blvd.
    • Closed on Sept. 11
      • Over 50 rodent droppings discovered inside
    • Reopened on Sept. 12

TAMPA

  • Jason’s Deli — 2702 E. Fowler Ave.
    • Closed on Sept. 11
      • Six live roaches discovered beneath the front-of-the-house buffet
      • Over 10 dead roaches found on the premises
      • Time/temperature violation for tuna salad
    • Reopened on Sept. 13
  • Wandee Asian Fusion — 5915 Memorial Hwy.
    • Closed on Sept. 10
      • Employee spotted washing hands without soap
      • Over 100 rodent droppings discovered inside
    • Reopened on Sept. 11
