SANFORD, Fla. – State Attorney Angela Corey, the special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin case, announced on Tuesday night that she will hold a news conference by Friday at the latest.
In a memo from her office, Corey said she will release new information regarding the investigation into Martin's death, but no specifics were provided.
The media will be notified three hours in advance of the news conference as to when and where it will be held -- either Jacksonville or Sanford.
Martin, 17, was shot dead in late February by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch leader in Sanford who reported Martin to police as a suspicious person.
Zimmerman claims he shot Martin in self-defense after Martin attacked him and beat him up.
Zimmerman's attorneys stepped down Tuesday, saying they've lost contact with him. Martin's family responded by saying they're worried Zimmerman won't be found.
