Thunderstorms hover over Central Florida

Temperatures, rain on the rise

Thunderstorms and heavy rain is continuing to roll across Central Florida hours after the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for multiple counties.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Brevard, Seminole and Volusia counties Tuesday afternoon. High winds were reported in those areas, with the chance of hail.

Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports beaches in Cocoa Beach and Melbourne Beach were briefly closed due to lightning, but were reopened, according to Jeff Scabarozi, Brevard County Ocean Rescue chief.

Temperatures remained high on Tuesday with the chance of rain continuing through the night and into Wednesday, with a 60 percent chance of rain. The heat won't let up as the week goes on, with highs of 90 degrees and lows of 72 degrees.
