Police: Duo arrested in overnight convenience store robberies

Man, woman took turns robbing stores, police say

ORANGE COUNTY – Deputies have arrested a couple they say are responsible for robbing five Orange County convenience stores in a 2-hour span on Wednesday morning.

Amibelec Ortiz Rivera, 22, and Juliette Santiago, 18, have been arrested and ch arged with four counts of aggravated assault and four counts of armed robbery in the robberies, which happened around Chickasaw Trail near State Road 50.

Orange County deputies said the couple, a man and woman, took turns robbing the stores. Deputies said they first responded to the 7-Eleven on Lake Underhill Road for an armed robbery call at 3:15 a.m.

Then at 3:35 a.m. deputies responded to the Kangaroo gas station on North Chickasaw Trail, at 4 a.m. the Kangaroo gas station on Lake Underhill Road and finally at 4:10 a.m. the 7-Eleven at East Colonial Drive.

Deputies said they then started searching other gas stations in the area for the suspects.

According to a release, deputies stopped a "suspicious vehicle" in the parking lot of Kangaroo gas station on East Colonial Drive and Old Cheney Highway at 4:30 a.m. Deputies found the duo with stolen money, a firearm and clothing that matched the description given from store employees.

No one was hurt in the robberies.
