ORLANDO, Fla. – The scoreboard toppled at the Citrus Bowl on Wednesday as demolition began for the multimillion-dollar renovation project.

The lower bowl of the downtown Orlando event center was demolished Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.
When the renovation project is complete, city and county leaders say the Citrus Bowl will attract and host "high-profile events" such as NFL pre-season games, concerts and NCAA college football games.
"I think were a community that can host any event on an international basis and its going to be a pretty amazing sports corridor," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "From Amway Center, to new soccer stadium to performing arts."
The renovation will include new lower bowl seating with six more inches of leg room, a 10,000-square foot party deck, new LED video displays and a 360-degree main concourse.
"We loved the time that we spent here, I think everyone in the stadium did, but we have something amazing to look forward to," said spectator Aurora McBride.
