Disney reaches tentative deal with unions for starting wage increase

Ratified contract would mean $9 an hour starting wages, Disney officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Walt Disney World reached a tentative agreement for a contract with six unions representing thousands of employees, Disney officials said on Friday.

The contract would include wage increases, raising the starting wages to $9 an hour once the agreement is ratified.

Disney officials said wages will go up to $9.50 an hour in 2015 and to $10 an hour in 2016 as part of a contract that will run through 2020.

The agreement with the Services Trades Council Union will affect more than 20,000 cast members.

Cast members will vote on the agreement before it is ratified, Disney officials said.
