Man sought in armed X-Mart robbery, Sumter County deputies say

Deputies: Man pointed weapon at clerk's face at Wildwood store

WILDWOOD, Fla. – An armed man who robbed the X-Mart Adult Supercenter in Wildwood is currently being sought, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived around 2:37 a.m. Thursday at the store at 973 E. State Road 44 and met with the victims.

A store clerk told deputies the man entered the business brandishing a firearm. The clerk said the man pointed the firearm in her face and demanded money from the register, deputies said.

The firearm was described by the Sheriff's Office as a black semi-automatic weapon.

?The robber fled the business with an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies said.

Sumter County sheriff's K-9 officers also arrived at the scene. Deputies said the K-9 officers were able to establish a track from the store heading in a northerly direction crossing State Road 44. The tracks stopped in a wooded area around County Road 232A.

Deputies described the armed robber as a black man who is 20 to 30 years old, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. Authorities said he wore a black ski-mask and black clothing.
