Pedestrian walking bike struck, killed in Daytona Beach

Driver likely won't be charged, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A pedestrian walking with his bicycle was struck and killed Monday in Daytona Beach.

The fatal crash happened around 6:40 a.m. on Clyde Morris Boulevard.

Daytona Beach police said the pedestrian was walking in the outside travel lane when a vehicle quickly swerved to avoid him.  Another car struck the man, however, and he was taken to Halifax Hospital, where he later died, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man has not been charged because the pedestrian was walking in the roadway, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
