SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A Seminole County teacher will spend two years in state prison after investigators say he had inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl.
Michael Scott Fitzwater, 40, of Chuluota, was arrested last year on one count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor. Fitzwater was an Exceptional Student Education teacher at Hagerty High School.

Fitzwater took a plea deal Friday that replaced his sex charge with a charge of unlawful use of a communication device.
Fitzwater will also have probation time and agreed to hand over his teaching certificate.
The investigation began in September 2014 when a woman discovered inappropriate text messages being sent between her daughter, who attends Hagerty High, and Fitzwater. Deputies said an investigation uncovered that Fitzwater had inappropriate sexual contact with the girl.
