TAVARES, Fla. – A lockdown at Tavares High School was lifted after authorities found a pellet gun on campus, officials said.

The school was locked down Friday afternoon as a precaution after receiving at least two reports of a possible gun on campus.

Lake County school officials said law enforcement members searched the school and found the pellet gun on property outside of the school building.

Officials said the student who took the gun on campus was identified and questioned.

Lake County School officials said the student will be disciplined according to the code of conduct.  A pellet gun is considered a "dangerous instrument."

The 17-year-old student was placed into custody and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds.
