The Sheriff's Office said Melendez began to argue with a woman he knew as she dropped off her children.

Melendez pushed the woman to the ground, assaulted her and took her keys, deputies said. He then took off in her vehicle.

Melendez called the woman throughout the day, harassed her and threatened to hurt her, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Police learned the whereabouts of the woman's vehicle later Friday.

Deputies said Melendez was not in the vehicle, but was found hiding in the bathroom of a nearby business.
