Melbourne city officials are urging residents not to feed wildlife, especially birds.
According to a release, the Humane Society lists the following reasons not to feed birds:

- Malnutrition: Birds fill up on bread and they won't eat natural more nutritious food.
- Aggression: Feeding makes wild animals lose fear in people.
- Disease: Attracting birds with food causes overcrowding and makes diseases spread faster.
- Injury/Death: Feeding wildlife near roads leads them into roadway where they can be killed or injured.
