Bike Share 'Super-User' puts thousands of miles on rental bikes

Ricardo Williams says the bike share model is perfect for his city lifestyle

ORLANDO, Fla. – With 23 stations and counting, Juice Bikes is quickly becoming a part of Orlando's identity.

The orange racks filled with bikes are popping up on corners throughout the city, the latest is in Winter Park.

Ricardo Williams just might be the company's best customer.

"Within two weeks of the program I got this notification on my phone that said 'You got this silver badge or gold badge for having the most amount of miles"

The downtown resident says he's put over three thousand miles on the bikes since they debuted in January.

"I definitely believe I have more miles than anyone else," Williams says. "It's an incredibly convenient way to travel throughout the city, especially if you're working or living downtown."

Williams says he's concerned about the number of cars on the road and bike share is a great way to reduce his carbon footprint.

"From an environmental aspect, you have way too many cars on the road," he says. "How can we eliminate traffic? How can we reduce our carbon emissions? Bikes can do that."

While the exact number of miles Williams has ridden  couldn't be confirmed, Juice Bikes Director of marketing and Sales, Sarah Elbadri, calls Williams a 'super user.'

"He's a great ambassador of the program. he really understands where Orlando is growing and has a vision for it. His ridership is incredible."

Elbadri says she sees Juice Bikes growing into a program that can serve the entire Central Florida region.

"The vision is that within a 60 mike quarter we'll have a bike share station at each city  so that we're helping with that last mile commute."

And with each new station comes another opportunity for Ricardo Williams to add to his already impressive mileage.

"I'm not sure if I want to be known as 'the bike guy," Williams laughs. " But I'm happy to support something that supports Orlando."
