Ocala mayor re-elected for third term

Kent Guinn garners 65 percent of vote

OCALA, Fla. – Voters in Ocala have re-elected their mayor for a third time.

Kent Guinn captured nearly 65 percent of the vote, winning in 18 of 19 precincts.

Guinn received 2,337 votes in the mayoral race. His opponent, William "Billy" Gilchrist received 1,281 votes.

In a separate race, councilman John McLeod lost the District 4 seat to political newcomer, Matthew Wardell, by just 96 votes. 

McLeod earned 49 percent, with 1,739 votes. Wardell earned 51 percent, with 1,835 votes.
