More human remains found near Volusia jail

Surveyor made initial discovery while working in woods

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.

More human remains were discovered Friday morning near the Volusia County Jail, according to deputies.

A surveyor found partial human remains while working Thursday in a heavily wooded area near the jail, prompting authorities to conduct an investigation.

The identity of the remains is not yet known, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators suspended their search early Friday afternoon, saying they needed better equipment to tackle the terrain.

They say they will most likely resume their search on Monday.

Investigators also said they have several missing person cases, including a homeless man who was released from the Volusia County Jail back in 2012 and hasn't been seen since.

No other details have been released.
