Wakeboarding World Series heads to Orlando

Wakeboarders show News 6 how they shred the wake

ORLANDO, Fla. – From the "Dum Dum" to the "Indy Moby Dick," no matter what the name of other trick is, wakeboarders showed News 6 how they shred the wake ahead of the Wakeboarding World Series this weekend at the Orlando Watersports Complex.

"The big part of trick content is originality so you don't look like everyone else," said Dean Smith, a competitor from Australia.

News 6 spoke to Zarah Kell, who at 12 years old, is the youngest pro competitor, saying that she first learned the sport before she could even walk.

"I went in between my dad's legs wakeboarding when I was 1, but I actually started going by myself when I was 3," Kell said.

The series will host almost 200 athletes from across the globe with even a few locals in the mix like Bob Soben, who is born and raised in Orlando.

Although Soben says it's nice being back in him hometown, it does add some extra pressure for him during the competition.

"I have to make sure I make it through the weekends so all of my friends could watch me ride" Soben said.

The competition runs through Sunday. Free tickets are available on their website: www.theWWA.com
