Girl, 16, hit and killed by car in front of Orlando McDonald's

Crash took place on South Semoran Boulevard

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 16-year-old girl was hit and killed by a car in front of a McDonald’s restaurant, police said Thursday.

All southbound traffic was shut down on South Semoran Boulevard, or State Road 436, but the road has since reopened. The incident took place at 6:35 p.m., according to a news release from the Orlando Police Department.

An Orlando officer who was working off-duty security at the time responded to the crash, in the 4000 block of South Semoran Boulevard, just south of Lake Margaret Drive, police said.

The teenager was rushed to a nearby hospital as emergency crews performed life-saving measures, but she didn't survive.

The driver who hit her is cooperating with the investigation.

"I have no other information regarding this investigation, or suspicions of fault," Lt. Jonathan R. Bigelowe said in an emailed statement.
