Harambe-shaped Cheeto sells for nearly $100,000

Bidding started at $12

ORLANDO, Fla. – An unusual purchase on the auction site eBay: Someone just paid nearly $100,000 to own a Cheeto that bears a striking resemblance to a gorilla that made headlines last year.

A California man put a Harambe-shaped Cheeto on the auction site last month.

Harambe is the gorilla that was killed by workers at the Cincinnati Zoo after a young boy fell into the enclosure. In the months following, Harambe became a viral sensation.

Originally, the owner of the Cheeto was only asking $11.99 for the snack. The winning big ended up being over $99,000.
