Teens rob Stetson University students at gunpoint, police say

Search fails to find assailants

DeLAND, Fla. – Two Stetson University students were robbed at gunpoint Friday by two teenagers, DeLand police said.

The robbery occurred around 1:30 p.m. at Painters Park in DeLand.

According to police, the victims said two teens, about 14 and 15 years old, entered the park, and one of the teens pointed a gun at them.

The teens demanded the victims' wallets and backpacks and took off with an empty drawstring backpack that has a Detroit Pistons logo on it, police said. Nothing else was stolen.

A search failed to find the teens.

The teens were described by police as having scruffy dirty blond hair.  The were wearing hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans, police said.
