18 pending cases against Volusia County deputy dismissed
Deputy Braman was accused of taking money from drivers
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Eighteen pending cases were dismissed against a Volusia County deputy accused of taking money from motorists arrested on DUI charges, officials said Monday.
Deputy John Braman, 33, resigned in January.
He was placed on paid administrative leave after the accusations surfaced.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the state attorney’s office and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office investigated.
Braman had been with the Sheriff's Office road patrol unit since Jan. 1, 2007.
Braman was shot in the arm in the line of duty in 2011 and was injured in 2013 when he was struck by a car, authorities said.
